Rainer Orth 1bcba38291 build: Cherry-pick libtool.m4 support for GNU ld *_sol2 emulations
GNU ld gained separate Solaris-specific linker emulations (*_sol2) long
ago. Since their introduction, GCC has preferred them over their
non-*_sol2 counterparts but supported both forms. This has changed for
GCC 16: since all supported versions of GNU ld do support the *_sol2
emulations, GCC now uses them unconditionally.

libtool has also been updated to handle this since libtool 2.4.2 back in
2011. However, that change has only partially been backported to the
heavily patched libtool.m4 in the GCC tree: the sparcv9 part is there,
but the amd64 part is missing for some reason. This causes problems
with some recent binutils changes.

Therefore this patch cherry-picks the libtool patch to bring
Solaris/x86_64 in sync with Solaris/sparcv9 and upstream libtool.

Bootstrapped without regressions on {amd64,i386}-pc-solaris2.11 and
{sparcv9,sparc}-sun-solaris2.11.

Jakub Jelinek 2fb3ee3ee8 libgomp: Fix up FLOCK fallback handling [PR113192]
My earlier change broke Solaris testing, because @FLOCK@ isn't substituted
just into libgomp/Makefile where it worked, but also the
testsuite/libgomp-site-extra.exp file where Make variables aren't present
and can't be substituted.

The following patch instead computes the absolute srcdir path and uses it
for FLOCK.

	PR libgomp/113192
	* configure.ac (FLOCK): Use $libgomp_abs_srcdir/testsuite/flock

Jakub Jelinek f2e967e025 libgomp: Use absolute pathname to testsuite/flock [PR113192]
When flock program doesn't exist, libgomp configure attempts to
offer a fallback version using a perl script, but we weren't using
absolute filename to that, so it apparently failed to work correctly.

The following patch arranges for it to get the absolute filename.

Iain Sandoe 6a6d3817af Config,Darwin: Allow for configuring Darwin to use embedded runpath.
Recent Darwin versions place contraints on the use of run paths
specified in environment variables. This breaks some assumptions
in the GCC build.

This change allows the user to configure a Darwin build to use
'@rpath/libraryname.dylib' in library names and then to add an
embedded runpath to executables (and libraries with dependents).

The embedded runpath is added by default unless the user adds
'-nodefaultrpaths' to the link line.

For an installed compiler, it means that any executable built with
that compiler will reference the runtimes installed with the
compiler (equivalent to hard-coding the library path into the name
of the library).

During build-time configurations any "-B" entries will be added to
the runpath thus the newly-built libraries will be found by exes.

Since the install name is set in libtool, that decision needs to be
available here (but might also cause dependent ones in Makefiles,
so we need to export a conditional).

This facility is not available for Darwin 8 or earlier, however the
existing environment variable runpath does work there.

We default this on for systems where the external DYLD_LIBRARY_PATH
does not work and off for Darwin 8 or earlier. For systems that can
use either method, if the value is unset, we use the default (which
is currently DYLD_LIBRARY_PATH).

ChangeLog:

	* configure: Regenerate.
	* configure.ac: Do not add default runpaths to GCC exes
	when we are building -static-libstdc++/-static-libgcc (the
	default).

libtool.m4: fix the NM="/nm/over/here -B/option/with/path" case
My previous nm patch handled all cases but one -- if the user set NM in
the environment to a path which contained an option, libtool's nm
detection tries to run nm against a copy of nm with the options in it:
e.g. if NM was set to "nm --blargle", and nm was found in /usr/bin, the
test would try to run "/usr/bin/nm --blargle /usr/bin/nm --blargle".
This is unlikely to be desirable: in this case we should run
"/usr/bin/nm --blargle /usr/bin/nm".

Furthermore, as part of this nm has to detect when the passed-in $NM
contains a path, and in that case avoid doing a path search itself.
This too was thrown off if an option contained something that looked
like a path, e.g. NM="nm -B../prev-gcc"; libtool then tries to run
"nm -B../prev-gcc nm" which rarely works well (and indeed it looks
to see whether that nm exists, finds it doesn't, and wrongly concludes
that nm -p or whatever does not work).

Fix all of these by clipping all options (defined as everything
including and after the first " -") before deciding whether nm
contains a path (but not using the clipped value for anything else),
and then removing all options from the path-modified nm before
looking to see whether that nm existed.

NM=my-nm now does a path search and runs e.g.
  /usr/bin/my-nm -B /usr/bin/my-nm

NM=/usr/bin/my-nm now avoids a path search and runs e.g.
  /usr/bin/my-nm -B /usr/bin/my-nm

NM="my-nm -p../wombat" now does a path search and runs e.g.
  /usr/bin/my-nm -p../wombat -B /usr/bin/my-nm

NM="../prev-binutils/new-nm -B../prev-gcc" now avoids a path search:
  ../prev-binutils/my-nm -B../prev-gcc -B ../prev-binutils/my-nm

This seems to be all combinations, including those used by GCC bootstrap
(which, before this commit, fails to bootstrap when configured
--with-build-config=bootstrap-lto, because the lto plugin is now using
--export-symbols-regex, which requires libtool to find a working nm,
while also using -B../prev-gcc to point at the lto plugin associated
with the GCC just built.)

libtool.m4: fix nm BSD flag detection
Libtool needs to get BSD-format (or MS-format) output out of the system
nm, so that it can scan generated object files for symbol names for
-export-symbols-regex support. Some nms need specific flags to turn on
BSD-formatted output, so libtool checks for this in its AC_PATH_NM.
Unfortunately the code to do this has a pair of interlocking flaws:

 - it runs the test by doing an nm of /dev/null. Some platforms
   reasonably refuse to do an nm on a device file, but before now this
   has only been worked around by assuming that the error message has a
   specific textual form emitted by Tru64 nm, and that getting this
   error means this is Tru64 nm and that nm -B would work to produce
   BSD-format output, even though the test never actually got anything
   but an error message out of nm -B. This is fixable by nm'ing *nm
   itself* (since we necessarily have a path to it).

 - the test is entirely skipped if NM is set in the environment, on the
   grounds that the user has overridden the test: but the user cannot
   reasonably be expected to know that libtool wants not only nm but
   also flags forcing BSD-format output. Worse yet, one such "user" is
   the top-level Cygnus configure script, which neither tests for
   nor specifies any BSD-format flags. So platforms needing BSD-format
   flags always fail to set them when run in a Cygnus tree, breaking
   -export-symbols-regex on such platforms. Libtool also needs to
   augment $LD on some platforms, but this is done unconditionally,
   augmenting whatever the user specified: the nm check should do the
   same.

   One wrinkle: if the user has overridden $NM, a path might have been
   provided: so we use the user-specified path if there was one, and
   otherwise do the path search as usual. (If the nm specified doesn't
   work, this might lead to a few extra pointless path searches -- but
   the test is going to fail anyway, so that's not a problem.)

(Tested with NM unset, and set to nm, /usr/bin/nm, my-nm where my-nm is a
symlink to /usr/bin/nm on the PATH, and /not-on-the-path/my-nm where
*that* is a symlink to /usr/bin/nm.)

ChangeLog:

	* libtool.m4 (LT_PATH_NM): Try BSDization flags with a user-provided
	NM, if there is one. Run nm on itself, not on /dev/null, to avoid
	errors from nms that refuse to work on non-regular files. Remove
	other workarounds for this problem. Strip out blank lines from the
	nm output.

Thomas Schwinge 49153588ab Remove stale Autoconf checks for Perl
Subversion r110220 (Git commit 03b8fe495d) for
PR25884 "libgomp should not require perl to compile" removed all '$(PERL)'

Jakub Jelinek 9abc830247 libgomp: Fix up -static -fopenmp linking [PR109904]
When an OpenMP program with target regions is linked statically,
it fails to link on various arches (doesn't when using recent glibc
because it has libdl stuff in libc), because libgomp.a(target.o) uses
dlopen/dlsym/dlclose, but we aren't linking against -ldl (unless
user asked for that). We already have libgomp.spec so that we
can supply extra libraries to link against in the -static case,
this patch adds -ldl to that if plugins are supported.

	PR libgomp/109904

Thomas Schwinge 6c3b30ef9e Support parallel testing in libgomp, part II [PR66005]
..., and enable if 'flock' is available for serializing execution testing.

Regarding the default of 19 parallel slots, this turned out to be a local
minimum for wall time when testing this on:

    $ uname -srvi
    Linux 4.2.0-42-generic #49~14.04.1-Ubuntu SMP Wed Jun 29 20:22:11 UTC 2016 x86_64

available. For both cases, default plus '-m32' variant.

Worth noting is that with nvptx offloading, there is one execution test case
that times out ('libgomp.fortran/reverse-offload-5.f90'). This effectively
stalls progress for almost 5 min: quickly other executions test cases queue up
on the lock for all parallel slots. That's working as expected; just noting
this as it accordingly does skew the wall time numbers.

Martin Liska 5e749ee301 configure: always set SPHINX_BUILD
During the Sphinx-migration development, I used
SPHINX_BUILD='' in order to skip building info and manual
pages in gcc folder. However, we've got HAS_SPHINX_BUILD
which is the correct flag for that.

With the patch, one will get a nicer error message when
sphinx-build is missing and one builds (explicitly) a target which
depends on it.

Olivier Hainque 0ecd0f1cc6 Generic configury support for shared libs on VxWorks
This change adds the configury bits to activate the build of
shared libs on VxWorks ports configured with --enable-shared,
for libraries variants where this is generally supported (rtp,
code model !large - currently not compatible with -fPIC).

Set lt_cv_deplibs_check_method in libtool.m4, so the build of
libraries know how to establish dependencies. This is useful in
configurations such as aarch64 where proper support of LSE relies
on accurate dependency information between libstdc++ and libgcc_s
to begin with.

Regenerate configure scripts to reflect libtool.m4 change.

2022-10-09  Olivier Hainque  <hainque@adacore.com>

	* libtool.m4 (*vxworks*): When enable_shared, set dynamic_linker
	and friends for rtp !large. Assume the linker has the required
	abilities and set lt_cv_deplibs_check_method.

	if enable_shared.

libgcc/
	* config.host (*vxworks*): When enable_shared, add

Thomas Schwinge d6adba3075 libgomp GCN plugin: Clean up unused references to system-provided HSA Runtime library
This is only active if GCC is 'configure'd with '--with-hsa-runtime=[...]' or
'--with-hsa-runtime-include=[...]', '--with-hsa-runtime-lib=[...]' -- which
nobody really is doing, as far as I can tell.

Originally changed for the libgomp HSA plugin in
commit b8d89b03db (r242749)
"Remove build dependence on HSA run-time", and later propagated into the GCN
plugin, these are no longer built against system-provided HSA Runtime library.
Instead, unconditionally built against the GCC-shipped 'include/hsa*.h' header
files, and at run time does 'dlopen("libhsa-runtime64.so.1")'. It thus doesn't
make sense to consider references to system-provided HSA Runtime library during
libgomp GCN plugin build.

When building an nvptx offloading configuration on openSUSE Leap 15.3, the
site script /usr/share/site/x86_64-unknown-linux-gnu is activated, setting
libexecdir to ${exec_prefix}/lib rather than ${exec_prefix}/libexec:
...
| # If user did not specify libexecdir, set the correct target:
| # Nor FHS nor openSUSE allow prefix/libexec. Let's default to prefix/lib.
|
| if test "$libexecdir" = '${exec_prefix}/libexec' ; then
|       libexecdir='${exec_prefix}/lib'
| fi
...

However, in libgomp libgomp/plugin/configfrag.ac we hardcode libexec:
...
    # Configure additional search paths.
    if test x"$tgt_dir" != x; then
      offload_additional_options="$offload_additional_options \
        -B$tgt_dir/libexec/gcc/\$(target_alias)/\$(gcc_version) \
	-B$tgt_dir/bin"
...

Fix this by using /$(libexecdir:\$(exec_prefix)/%=%)/ instead of /libexec/.

Tested on x86_64-linux with nvptx accelerator.

libgomp/ChangeLog:

	* plugin/configfrag.ac: Use /$(libexecdir:\$(exec_prefix)/%=%)/
	instead of /libexec/.

Tobias Burnus 1f0a57bd54 libgomp: Only check for 2*sizeof(void*) int type with Fortran [PR96661]
The depend type is a struct with two pointer members for C/C++ - but for
Fortran OpenMP requires an integer type with kind = omp_depend_kind. Thus,
libgomp's configure checks that an integer type/kind with size 2*sizeof(void*)
is available. However, this integer type/kind is not needed when building without
Fortran support. Thus, only check this when Fortran is enabled.

libgomp/
	PR libgomp/96661
	* configure.ac: Only check for int-type = 2*size_t support when
	building with Fortran support.

Thomas Schwinge 6106dfb9f7 [nvptx libgomp plugin] Build only in supported configurations
As recently again discussed in <https://gcc.gnu.org/PR97436> "[nvptx] -m32
support", nvptx offloading other than for 64-bit host has never been
implemented, tested, supported. So we simply should buildn't the nvptx libgomp
plugin in this case.

This avoids build problems if, for example, in a (standard) bi-arch
x86_64-pc-linux-gnu '-m64'/'-m32' build, libcuda is available only in a 64-bit
variant but not in a 32-bit one, which, for example, is the case if you build
GCC against the CUDA toolkit's 'stubs/libcuda.so' (see
<https://stackoverflow.com/a/52784819>).

This amends PR65099 commit a92defdab7 (r225560)
"[nvptx offloading] Only 64-bit configurations are currently supported" to
match the way we're doing this for the HSA/GCN plugins.

	libgomp/
	PR libgomp/65099
	* plugin/configfrag.ac (PLUGIN_NVPTX): Restrict to supported
	configurations.
	* configure: Regenerate.
	* plugin/plugin-nvptx.c (nvptx_get_num_devices): Remove 64-bit
	check.

Iain Sandoe 1352bc88a0 Darwin : Update libtool and dependencies for Darwin20 [PR97865]
The change in major version (and the increment from Darwin19 to 20)
caused libtool tests to fail which resulted in incorrect build settings
for shared libraries.

We take this opportunity to sort out the shared undefined symbols state
rather than propagating the current unsound behaviour into a new rev.

This change means that we default to the case that missing symbols are
considered an error, and if one wants to allow this intentionally, the
confiuration for that case should be set appropriately.

Three existing cases need undefined dynamic lookup:
 libitm, where there is already a configuration mechanism to add the
         flags.
 libcc1, where we add simple configuration to add the flags for Darwin.
 libsanitizer, where we can add to the existing extra flags.
