A 14-inch 2560x1600 60Hz matte touch panel, found on a Dell Latitude 7455
laptop (second-source with BOE NE14QDM), according to online sources it's
also found on the Latitude 7440 and some ASUS models.

94124ea5a7 drm/edp-panel: Add touchscreen panel used by Lenovo X13s 
After (checks watch) a little over two years I finally investigated the
boot warning on my Thinkpad X13s and it was caused by the conservative
timings warning in panel-edp.c . The X13s was sold with a variety of
different panel versions; I have the 300 nit multi-touch variant.

I have been unable to secure panel documentation so the I copied the
timings from NV133WUM-N63.

490b30fbac drm/panel-edp: Add 4 more panels needed by mt8189 Chromebooks 
Add a few generic edp panels used by mt8189 chromebooks. For
BOE-NV140WUM-N44 , the enable timing required 80ms. For
CSW-MNE007QB3-1, the hpd_absent timing rquired 80ms, the enable timing
required 50ms, the disable timing required 50ms. For CSW-MNE007QS3-6,
the enable timing required 50ms. For CMN-N140JCA-ELK, the enable timing
required 80ms and disable timing required 50ms.

518867b093 drm/panel-edp: Add edp panels used by mt8189 Chromebooks 
Add a few generic edp panels used by mt8189 chromebooks, most of
them use the same general enable timing 50ms. For BOE-NV116WHM-N4B and
BOE-NV116WHM-T01 CMN-N140JCA-ELP the enable timing required 80ms. For
CMN-N116BCA-EAK, the enable timing required 200ms and disable timing
required 50ms. For CMN-N116BCL-EAK and CMN-N122JCA-ENK the enable timing
required 80ms and disable timing required 50ms. For TMA-TL140VDMS03-01,
the enable timing required 50ms and the disable timing required 100ms.

1511d3c4d2 drm/panel-edp: Add 50ms disable delay for four panels 
Add 50ms disable delay for NV116WHM-N49, NV122WUM-N41, and MNC207QS1-1
to satisfy T9+T10 timing. Add 50ms disable delay for MNE007JA1-2
as well, since MNE007JA1-2 copies the timing of MNC207QS1-1.

Specifically, it should be noted that the MNE007JA1-2 panel was added
by someone who did not have the panel documentation, so they simply
copied the timing from the MNC207QS1-1 panel. Adding an extra 50 ms
of delay should be safe.

Cannot confirm which variant exactly it is, as the EDID alphanumeric data
contains '0RGNR' <0x80> 'NE14QDM' and ends there; but it's 60 Hz and with
touch.

I do not have access to datasheets for these panels, so the timing is
a guess that was tested to work fine on this laptop.

0b3d994258 drm/panel-edp: Clarify the prepare_to_enable description in comments 
It's unclear why I originally wrote in the description of
`prepare_to_enable` that "This is not specified in a standard way on
eDP timing diagrams" and then also wrote "It is effectively the time
from HPD going high till you can turn on the backlight." It seems
pretty clear that it's (T4+T5+T6+T8)-min. Either I was confused when I
wrote this or I was looking at some strange panel datasheet that I can
no longer find.

Update the description of the field so it's easier for people to fill
this in. Couch the description with "usually" in case there really was
some weird datasheet where things were specified in a different way.

50625eab39 drm/edp-panel: Add panel used by T14s Gen6 Snapdragon 
The Lenovo Thinkpad T14s Gen6 Snapdragon is currently sold with three
different panel versions: OLED, Low Power IPS or IPS with Touchscreen.

My Low Power IPS version had this panel and the kernel complained
about not knowing any details.  I don't have any panel documentation,
but as far as I can see the same timings for the already supported
CSO panel also work for this one.

We've been unable to locate a datasheet for this panel and our partner
has not been responsive, but all Starry eDP datasheets that we can
find agree on the same timing (delay_100_500_e200) so it should be
safe to use that here instead of the super conservative timings. We'll
still go a little extra conservative and allow `hpd_absent` of 200
instead of 100 because that won't add any real-world delay in most
cases.

We'll associate the string from the EDID ("116KHD024006") with this
panel. Given that the ID is the suspicious value of 0x0004 it seems
likely that Starry doesn't always update their IDs but the string will
still work to differentiate if we ever need to in the future.

e70140ba0d Get rid of 'remove_new' relic from platform driver struct 
The continual trickle of small conversion patches is grating on me, and
is really not helping.  Just get rid of the 'remove_new' member
function, which is just an alias for the plain 'remove', and had a
comment to that effect:

  /*
   * .remove_new() is a relic from a prototype conversion of .remove().
   * New drivers are supposed to implement .remove(). Once all drivers are
   * converted to not use .remove_new any more, it will be dropped.
   */

This was just a tree-wide 'sed' script that replaced '.remove_new' with
'.remove', with some care taken to turn a subsequent tab into two tabs
to make things line up.

I did do some minimal manual whitespace adjustment for places that used
spaces to line things up.

Then I just removed the old (sic) .remove_new member function, and this
is the end result.  No more unnecessary conversion noise.

c1bae6802e drm/panel-edp: Add unknown BOE panel for HP Omnibook X14 
Seems to be like NV140DRM-N61 but with touch. Haven't disassembled
the lid to look.

Due to lack of information, use the delay_200_500_e200 timings like
many other BOE panels do for now.

6b3815c681 drm/edp-panel: Add panels used by Dell XPS 13 9345 
Introduce low-res IPS and OLED panels for mentioned device.

SHP panel's timings were picked experimentally, without this patch or with
`delay_200_500_e50` panel sometimes fails to boot/stays black on startup.

LGD panel's timings were copied from other LGD panels and tested to be
working.

Particular laptop also comes in high-res IPS variant, which unfortunately
I do not have access to verify.

01cc7b2e8a Revert "drm/panel-edp: Add SDC ATNA45AF01" 
This reverts commit 8ebb1fc2e6.

The panel should be handled through the samsung-atna33xc20 driver for
correct power up timings. Otherwise the backlight does not work correctly.

We have existing users of this panel through the generic "edp-panel"
compatible (e.g. the Qualcomm X1E80100 CRD), but the screen works only
partially in that configuration: It works after boot but once the screen
gets disabled it does not turn on again until after reboot. It behaves the
same way with the default "conservative" timings, so we might as well drop
the configuration from the panel-edp driver. That way, users with old DTBs
will get a warning and can move to the new driver.

f00bfaca70 drm/panel: Avoid warnings w/ panel-simple/panel-edp at shutdown 
At shutdown if you've got a _properly_ coded DRM modeset driver then
you'll get these two warnings at shutdown time:

  Skipping disable of already disabled panel
  Skipping unprepare of already unprepared panel

These warnings are ugly and sound concerning, but they're actually a
sign of a properly working system. That's not great.

We're not ready to get rid of the calls to drm_panel_disable() and
drm_panel_unprepare() because we're not 100% convinced that all DRM
modeset drivers are properly calling drm_atomic_helper_shutdown() or
drm_helper_force_disable_all() at the right times. However, having the
warning show up for correctly working systems is bad.

As a bit of a workaround, add some "if" tests to try to avoid the
warning on correctly working systems. Also add some comments and
update the TODO items in the hopes that future developers won't be too
confused by what's going on here.

51e1fb144f drm/panel-edp: drop several legacy panels 
The panel-edp driver supports legacy compatible strings for several eDP
panels which were never used in DT files present in Linux tree and most
likely have never been used with the upstream kernel. Drop compatibles
for these panels in favour of using a generic "edp-panel" device on the
AUX bus.

336dca397d drm/panel-edp: Add more panels with conservative timings 
Same as commit 7c8690d8fc ("drm/panel-edp: Add some panels with
conservative timings"), the 3 panels added in this patch are used by
Mediatek MT8173 Chromebooks and they used to work with the downstream
v4.19 kernel without any specified delay.

These panel IDs were found from in-field reports, but their datahseets
are not available. For BOE 0x0623 and SHP 0x153a, their product names
are retrieved from the EDIDs. The EDID of AUO 0x1999 does not contain
such information, so list as "Unknown" in this patch.

Update these entries with less-conservative timings from other panels of
the same vendor.

ec76298593 drm/panel: edp: Add a comment about unprepare+disable at shutdown/remove 
It's the responsibility of a correctly written DRM modeset driver to
call drm_atomic_helper_shutdown() at shutdown time and that should be
disabling / unpreparing the panel if needed. Panel drivers shouldn't
be calling these functions themselves.

A recent effort was made to fix as many DRM modeset drivers as
possible [1] [2] [3] and most drivers are fixed now.

Unfortunately, it's very difficult to know exactly which DRM modeset
drivers are using panel-edp due to the sheer number of panels it
handles. For now, we'll leave the calls and just add a comment to keep
people from copying this code.
